‘From Micro to Macro: Revitalising Spaces’ at ICSA2025

Prof. Delfina Fantini van Ditmar chaired the track From Micro to Macro: Revitalising Spaces  – Exploring the Synergy between Regenerative Architecture and Bioconstruction at the International Conference on Structures and Architecture (ICSA2025)arrow at the University of Antwerp. The session was co-chaired with Jan Wurm (KU Leuven).

The session highlighted the urgent need for architects, engineers, and researchers to co-create regenerative integrative practices.

The track explored three key areas:
– Cutting-edge biomaterials and natural structural innovations
-The future of biofabrication and biodesign in architecture
-The emerging concept of biorenovation, circular construction and regeneration.

‘How can art and design cultivate critical expressions rooted in ethics of care and relationality to influence ecological, social, and economic structures?’

Delfina Fantini van Ditmar, PhD, focuses on ecological design and reflective practices as Professor Regenerative Art and Design. With a background in biology and design research, she explores paradigm shifts and material ethics, advancing regenerative and more-than-human perspectives
