Keynote by Professor Delfina Fantini van Ditmar at International Image Festival in Colombia

Prof. Fantini van Ditmar participated as a keynote speaker at the International Image Festival (Festival Internacional de la Imagenarrow), held in collaboration with the International Conference on the Histories of Media Art at the University of Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano. The International Image Festival is an academic and cultural event that explores the intersections of art, design, science, and digital culture.

Centered around the theme Re:generative, this year’s festival offered a vibrant program of artistic activities, including exhibitions, concerts, media art shows, and more.

The event explored a wide range of interconnected topics, such as expanded communities, rhizomatic participation and creation; circular dynamics and autonomous economies; resilient ecosystems and adaptive systems; open knowledge through the consilience of design, art, and science; innovation grounded in the reinterpretation of ancestral memory; and the preservation of “future memories” through new tools for research and archiving.

The program also celebrated pioneers of media art, emphasizing both historical depth and forward-looking perspectives, with a focus on ecological futures, local communities, lo-tech and ancestral knowledge.

‘How can art and design cultivate critical expressions rooted in ethics of care and relationality to influence ecological, social, and economic structures?’

Delfina Fantini van Ditmar, PhD, focuses on ecological design and reflective practices as Professor Regenerative Art and Design. With a background in biology and design research, she explores paradigm shifts and material ethics, advancing regenerative and more-than-human perspectives
