Discover the World of Mycelium: Talk and Workshop

How can creatives use mycelium as a material? What possibilities does it offer at the intersection of art, technology, and nature? On Saturday, November 30, 2024, our intern Kiki Geurtsarrow, a graduating student at Avans CMD ‘s-Hertogenbosch, will introduce you to this fascinating bio-based material during a talk and workshop at Huis73 in Den Bosch.

In her work, Kiki explores how mycelium could contribute to the creative industry, bridging sustainable design and ecological innovation. This workshop and Kiki her talk are a unique opportunity to engage hands-on with a material shaping the future of design and learn how you can integrate it into your own creative practice. What to expect during this afternoon:

  • Insights into the structure and potential of mycelium as a design material.
  • A hands-on workshop to experiment with this bio-based medium.
  • Inspiration for sustainable and creative applications in your own projects.

Research Group: Situated Art and Design

Living in cities developed around data and acting within the inscrutable structure of our techno-society demands art and design that can help understand how we relate to these rapidly changing surroundings and to reflect on that relationship. The research group Situated Art and Design responds to this exigency by fostering a situated turn in art and design through a diverse portfolio of interdisciplinary research projects in partnership with academic and cultural partners, as well as with government and industry.
