Open Call for Avans students to apply for River Summer Camp in Stuttgart this summer!

Reclaiming the river and its banks: new spatial strategies for blue-green infrastructure and its hinterlands. The Centre of Applied Research for Art, Design and Technology (Caradt) invites Avans students to apply for participation in the River Summer Camp Stuttgart.

River Summer Camp Stuttgart 2024

This Summer Camp will involve you in an exciting learning journey, working in interdisciplinary teams to discover the hidden opportunities of riverbanks and their hinterlands. Together with students and teachers from universities in Norway, Switzerland, Romania, and Germany, you will explore the possibilities of future living along the river Neckar. Under the supervision of some of Europe’s leading experts on urban and rural development, you will develop spatial strategies, working with the dramatic, poetic, bizarre or scenic character of forgotten sites. In the Campus format we will use multiple methods such as: research/analysis, development, drafts, content-related workshops, dialogue/interaction, (guest) lectures, presentations, cooking and eating together, celebration, documentation/publication.

This is a great opportunity for students interested in urban or rural development, architecture, design, art or simply in envisioning a desirable future. The two weeks of living and working in the River Summer Camp will be an adventure in on-site research, living in tents and temporary accommodation while exploring, staging and playing with the blank spaces and reserve areas at and along the river. All costs for travel, accommodation and meals will be covered by the organizers: the Wüstenrot Foundationarrow in co-operation with urbanes.land gGmbH Stuttgartarrow and Belius GmbH Berlinarrow.
