In this position you are offered a unique chance to lead transformative research bridging human and non-human worlds, at the intersection of life sciences, design, and technology. Workshop Miraculous Futures
Workshop Miraculous Futures with Living Materials, at Material Incubator, in 2021, supported by SIA GoCi

Caradt is thrilled to seek a new professor to explore the fascinating intersection of life sciences, design, and technology, particularly AI. At Caradt, we’re inspired by pioneers like Donna Haraway, Anna Tsing, and Puig de la Bellacasa, who advocate for a paradigm shift towards recognizing our entanglement with other species. Their work underlines the importance of developing more-than-human sensibilities in biodesign, a perspective we’re eager to explore further through the addition of a new professor specializing in biodesign and AI.

This role involves leading innovative research, publishing findings, developing and teaching courses, mentoring, and fostering collaborations. It’s a unique opportunity to push the boundaries of biodesign and more-than-human perspectives. This role will not only push the boundaries of design but also contribute significantly to our understanding and relationship with the non-human world. If you’re passionate about making a difference in these dynamic fields, we encourage you to apply by April 12.

Research Group: Biobased Art and Design

The research group Biobased Art and Design capitalises on the role of artistic practice in unlocking the unique potentials of living organisms for everyday materials and communicating these to a broader public. In doing so, the group aims to instigate and accelerate our widespread understanding, further development and usage of such materials. The group’s research approach encourages tangible interactions with the living organisms, such as algae, fungi, plants and bacteria, to explore and understand their unique qualities and constraints through diverse technical and creative methods taking artists, designers and scientists as equal and active partners in the material creation.
