LIVING ARTEFACTS – Angelique Spaninks, Introducing BAD Awards

Bio Art & Design Award
The BAD Awardarrow is an annual international competition which aims to encourage emerging artists and designers to experiment with bio art and design and to push the boundaries of collaborations between art and science.

The BAD Award connects international bio-artists and designers who have graduated in the past five years with Dutch research groups from Life Science departments. Together, the artists and scientists develop a bio-artwork. The collaborations provide new insights on the fine line between art and science – and the BAD Award is a unique experience for both parties.

The BAD Award 2020 was an initiative of ZonMw, MU Hybrid Art House and BioArt Laboratories. The award is an incentive for the fast-growing group of young artists whose work focuses on the discovery of the many new possibilities that Life Science has to offer.
